Condition:
The watch is in pristine condition 9.5/10 with minimal wear. The case retains its original form with thick and strong lugs the shows little to no polishing throughout. The watch comes with a warranty paper dated 2021 but the watch is actually a product from the 2000s where it was sold in Tokyo Boutique in 2021. Watch is in normal working order and was serviced in 2023 by A. Lange & Söhne.
Our Thoughts:
This 1815 Up/Down is the first extension from the original 1815 Small Seconds from the brand relaunch in 1994. Carrying the same diameter at 36mm, the watch is oh-so-perfect on wrist and the slender 7.9mm thickness put it up against some of the greatest Swiss designed watches at the time.
Germans don’t miss much when it comes to geometric balance. The Up/Down meaning it’s got a small second and a power reserve sub-dial, is precisely placed in the 8 and 4 o’clock position to counter balance the brand logo in the 12 o’clock position. Symmetrical from all angles and architecturally excellent, the watch is the dress watch that everyone imagines.
If you asked anyone to draw what a watch would look like, it would most likely share a similar silhouette to this. A. Lange & Söhne have always been true to its roots, designing classic dress watches that are both mechanically excellent and visually timeless.
